
In 2005, pediatric occupational therapist Jennifer Kelly Reeves opened her own private practice, Building Futures, to provide a holistic approach to pediatric therapy.
A year later, she was joined by Wendy Petrus, a speech-language pathologist, who went to work for the practice and ultimately became a partner.
By 2023, the two had built a thriving practice with two locations: Monroe and Ruston, Louisiana. Not ones to rest on their laurels, they set their sights on becoming the go-to practice in their region.
There was a problem, however. Although Building Futures was a high-performance operation, its online presence was anything but. Its website was lacking, its Google rankings inconsistent and its digital footprint barebones.
How would Building Futures dominate its region with a second-rate online presence?

The Strategy: Vitalize the Practice’s Web Presence with Marketing Best Practices
How did we get such stellar results? We began with in-depth owner interviews followed by a comprehensive marketing analysis to establish the practice’s objectives and online strengths and weaknesses.
With all relevant info to hand, we formulated a comprehensive strategy based on our industry experience and sound marketing principles to pump up the Building Futures brand online. Here’s what we did:
Step 1: Create a Premium Website to Elevate the Practice’s Brand Online
“We wanted to beef up our website,” says Jennifer Kelly Reeves. “It was miserable and we just didn’t have the time to manage it.” In addition to elevating their brand, the partners also wanted to increase referrals of private insurance patients.
And so, we went to work creating a brand-new site from the ground up including a striking, new design, custom content and atop a solid technical foundation. The partners loved it! Here is the top portion of their new homepage:

Step 2: Use Strategic Local SEO to Place the Practice at the Top of Google
Although Building Futures was ranking well for some of its key services, others were ranking poorly for both locations.
To resolve this, our SEO team conducted a keyword analysis for each modality in each location. We then implemented technical SEO best practices including website optimization—both on-page and “under the hood”—and full optimization of each location’s Google Business Profile and other key actions.
Step 3: Publish Valuable Online Content to Showcase the Practice’s Expertise
When a practice regularly publishes valuable content for its client base and the community, it establishes itself as an industry authority while showcasing its expertise. This is known as “content marketing.”
For Building Futures, content marketing would be a key in energizing its client base while educating their communities. The campaign centered around DIY videos of therapists giving valuable advice to families searching for solutions. We recommended the video topics and edited the footage into short, highly polished videos. Here’s a sample below:

The Outcome: A New, Dominant Online Presence
Uplift Marketing’s marketing services culminated in a new, expansive internet presence as follows:

Occupying Top Spots in Google Searches
Our local SEO strategy pushed Building Futures to the forefront of Google search results within a 15-mile radius of their practice.
Here’s an example.The image below (on left) from last December shows the Monroe clinic ranking eighth or ninth when searching “pediatric occupational therapist” within a 15-mile radius of its location. The green dot shows where the practice ranked well, the red and orange dots where it ranked poorly.
Now check out the right-side image. Just four months later, following intensive local SEO work, the Monroe location, on average, ranked second when searching for “pediatric occupational therapist”


Being #1 in Google “3-Packs”
The Google “3-Pack” is how Google displays top search engine results in response to local queries. Since Google’s mission is to provide reliable, relevant and authoritative info to users, appearing in the 3-pack implicitly elevates the company’s stature.
Building Futures now regularly appears in the Google 3-Pack. For instance, below are the results when searching “pediatric speech therapy Monroe, LA.” As you can see, Building Future not only appears in the 3-Pack, it occupies the top position.

When searching for “pediatric speech therapy Ruston, LA,” Building Futures’ second location, the practice appears twice in the 3-Pack. Once for the search term “pediatric speech therapy Ruston, LA” and then again for “occupational therapist,” as you can see below:
